Just curious what's the going rate. I understand all area's will be a little different.

Was just curious what the range is for those that have sent there heads off to be disassembled, cleaned, checked, and made true.

Amy just brought em to a shop for me at lunchtime, 2 day's turn around time, $375.

Not sure if thats about right or not.

Last shop was $50, and it was done in less than an hour. Kinda not trusting that cheap and fast of a service ya know....

OK cool, so there in the ballpark then.
This is only the second time I've ever had to get heads checked, so I wasnt sure on the going rate.

I mean the shop already has them, so its too late anyways. But was just curious.

Another shop quoted me $325 with a 2-3 week turn around.

This shop I just took them too has to be the cleanest largest machine shop I've ever seen.(granted I havent seen many) but still. Was shocked at how clean it was.
Last machine shop I went to looked like a hurricane rolled through it.

depends on what is wrong as too how much it costs. who did you take them to and did they tell you what was wrong yet. also, don't be scared of a dirty shop. Ive seen some amazing work come out of shops you could barely walk through.

Glad you're having them checked out man. Hope they come back with a clean bill of health.

well from visual inspection, everything looked perfect.

I mean the only reason the heads are off is due to an overheat that killed my gaskets, not like I had detonation or something. So hopefully the heat would just warp them some, they can plane them out true, and I'm back in business.

How many miles do you have on them?

If you have less then 5k on them then there really is no reason to have them completely taken apart and put back together, unless you severerly overheated the engine, just have them checked for flatness and milled if needed.

Call TEA if you have any questions and tell Mike I sent you.

sounds right to me. when I worked at a machine shop we used to get $25 each head for pressure test, $50 each for surface and $125 each for a standard valve job. $200/head plus valve seals so you are pretty close.

Original quote was $300 to deck, clean up, 3 angle valve job...decided to go new stuff with CNC ported instead though...

JJ believe it or not, I have almost 8,000 on the motor already, maybe closer to 10,000 miles.

She truly is my Daily Driver. I drive it everywhere....

Nope Sally, havent had time to do anything, shit the heads would still be in the garage if it wasnt for Amy taking them to the machine shop....
