Truck turns over but won't stay running..Any ideas?

I was soo excited about the truck coming home but that wasn't allowed to last very long...

These are my trucks symptoms.

Turns over and fires up but quickly stops running no matter how much you try to feather the gas pedal.

It ran great for nearly 100 miles all day long through various types of traffic conditions?

Drove about 12 miles to the restaraunt no problems. Shut the truck down and ate dinner. Came out and the mother fugger wouldn't stay running.

I suspect the fuel pumps because I don't hear them spin up after turning the key but prior to engaging the starter.

Any ideas?:smt102

if it cranks and then dies, it sound electrical. did you happen to notice if the theft light was blinking?.. ever since my pats went on me, i seem to always think thats everyones issue LOL. Now that your truck is built, time for some gauges. Fuel pressure should be on that list :) . Sound like no/low fuel pressure to me. I peeked at you link, but im trying not to go over there that muck :)

I was wondering if if was possibly the PATS but I don't know anything about it.

The truck was running perfect from the point I picked it up untill the time I shut it off to go into the resturaunt with my wife. The truck had been started and shut off numerous times. I know I put almost 100 miles on it as I was using it to run errands as well as simply just cruising through town to get the feel of it. The thing ran flawlessly. But when we came out of the resturaunt it acted like it never knew me. Simply would not stay running. It would fire up and you could hear a brief initial rev of the motor but no more than a second later it would simply cut out.

This is when I paid particular attention to see if I noticed the sound of the fuel pumps and what I noticed was that the fuel pumps were not sounding off that familiar humming noise that I recall them making in the past. None what's so ever.

I briefly checked the fuses under the hood and have located at least one 20 amp fuse that needs replaced. I swapped it for a 20 am from a different slot but the truck still wouldn't start.

I can't say what the fuses are assigned to right now. I'll have to dig out my owners manual if I can locate it. I know it's around but my wife is always stashing things away in boxes....

A member from the other board has helped me out tremendously by PM'ing me with a brief run down of all relays and fuses that are fuel related. Once my sitter gets here later today I'll have some time to investigate things a bit further.

If it is the PATS I wonder what would have activated it?

I'd check wires and hoses, if the builder forgot to tighten something down and it rattled loose in the initial 100 miles is a possibility.

Or possible cloged fuel filter from sitting while the build took place?!?

Good luck and congrats again!!

Fuel cut-off under Pass. kick panel....

Just another suggestion. My truck did the same thing one day right after I bought it. Turned out to be one of the two relays that attach to the fuse box under the hood Inboard side). One of them is a fuel pump high or something relay... And it's cheap to replace before going deeper. Good luck

Problem fixed.

It turned out to be the PCM had a short in it and wasn't grounding the fuel pumps or something like that...

Replaced the PCM and all is better now.

Best thing is that it was all covered under the factory warranty so it didn't cost me a dime. Not even for the tow.
