you need clunk washers, its a normal and common problem

 

already stated that clunk washers were done

 

some times clunk washers dont hold . or bolts on steering box loosen up

 

The only way a clunk washer won't hold is if the bolt comes loose...very loose.

Never considered steering box mounting bolts; could have something there.

My vote is for lower ball joints moving around in the lca.

 

Same problem on my truck.. Guess its time to go see the doctor.

 

just an fyi, I had the same problem after lowering my L so I tightened the control arm bolts to 150ftlbs and it never came back. It's worth a shot and doesn't cost you anuthing It's been like 8 months since

 

What if its coming from the rear? I just had my ball joint replaced, how do you check if its loose?

 

this happens when you are turning or just driving? I would check all the bolts in the rear and tighten them all, especially the shock bolts

If you have a rear sway bar that could be hitting the exhaust. Happened to me

 

or a front sway bar that is binding up

 

mine is doing this too, but only if I turn the wheel almost all the way to the left....??

 

Mine does that too, can't find anything loose and the clunk washers were installed way before this.

 

hey man going through the same problems right now... going to install clunk washers this weekend and see if i can find anything else loose, if i find the problem ill let you know... its deff pissing me off!

 

had a customer at work. he had a Harley ford with drop spindles, he installed his own ball joints. he had aloud poping while turning .the lower control arm was worn,the ball joint would pivot while turning and pop .to ck this , the suspension must be fully loaded, best way to check this is on drive on lift or alignment lift .
