Whats the max weight the L can haul with stock ride height if the trailer has brakes as well? I am looking at some enclosed car haulers and want to pull a race vehicle.

I should tell you in the owners manual.

My truck has a lowering kit but just the other day I pulled my dads 04 long bed silverado, its a v8 with 3 tool boxs, air compressor, saw horses, 20 2x6 14 ft, 10 peices of plywood and 10 2x4s...Not sure what it weighted but it was a hell of a load and it pulled it like a champ at 65 mph!

I would say it mostly depends on the weight of the race car, and the length of the enclosed trailer

stock with a brake controller and tow package and brakes on the trailer....
7500-10000 is a walk in the park

a local high $$ roundy round racer, has been using his 99L as the tow vehicle since it was new(He bought it because He finally could buy a truck without having to add a supercharger to it) not sure what He might have done to the suspension but He put expedition tires & rims on it, and runs it with a 24ft enclosed trailer

The point is that they are a poor platform for towing big weight. Not enough suspension to handle big tongue weight. And the tire/wheel package is the big reason for the low factory rating. They would definately have to be changed.
Will it pull weight? Sure! Can it do it safely? Well, only with a lot of modification. And it will be a severe beating to the chassis and suspension.

If you do it, more spring, a good brake controller, a good weight distributing hitch, and the very best of trailer brake systems will be required.

That tells me more then a laughing smiley...so thanks. The car is pretty much gutted, so maybe 3300-3400lbs plus the trailer weight. I think it would be around 7000lbs or so.

I've never pulled anythng with this 1 bc of the rollpan with no hitch , but I've had loads where I'm dragging ground and had plenty of power with 555s. Yes I know towing and hauling are diff. Nothing gone wrong to date either

Ya factory rating is only 5k lbs. But wd13 pulls his race lightning with his dd lightning to the track at least he used to. That's gotta be pushing 7k lbs. And he said its fine.

I buy and sell mustangs and use my L and a car hauler to PU and deliver them all, I also have a 20' Mako CC I put in and out of the water. I usually pull in OD also, on the highway of course. Other than my tranny temp bumping 200, I've never had any issues.

The 3/4ton and 1ton Fords(our year models) came with the same tranny; so thats not an issue.

fortuantly the Lightnings and '02-'03 Harley trucks came with the 4r100 vs the 4r70

Yes, I pull the race truck to the track with my DD. Truck, trailer, tools, etc puts the load at just over 7k pounds. My DD is a 2003 (higher tow cap) and it handles it just fine. However, if I were to tow anything heavier, I would say a weight dist. hitch is a must. Infact, I'll be buying one anyway since I switched to 01 leafs on the rear.

Enclosed is a different deal. I like my enclosed trailers long (28ft). You wont be able to handle one like that with the L. Id say 20ft max depending on what kind of vehicle you'll be hauling in the trailer. The enclosed trailers are typically pretty tongue heavy (this is what kills the L) especially when you get all your stuff thrown in up front. Actually, they're just heavier everywhere by a significant amount. You would without a doubt need a weight dist. hitch with an enclosed. I'd put a sway control on it too just to keep things in check.
