Well as the topic states. I have a little issue with my odometer. When I hit the trottle to WOT from a standstill after I finish so=pinning and I look down to see my speed I notice that my odometer is blacked out I tap on the plastic cover on the gauges and then it will relight. I think i have a short in it but it only does it under hard acceleration. :D

I know it is not a big issue but I have taken the entire dash apart today, Do not recommend this it is a pain the rear. I still could not get to the back of the gauge pod. Ford has a metal housing around the back of it and after two or three hours I could not figure out how to pullit out with out damaging the pod. I put it back together and I guess I will just beat on it unless someone has any ideas as to what it could be.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Wow... that's a cool problem to have! Your trucks odometer is scared to register when your behind the wheel and go WOT! LOL...LOL... :LOL

LOL... I'd like to be a fly on the wall as you try to explain the problem to a tech. "well.. the odometer just goes black when accelerating at anything over 0.75 Gs. "

seriously, only thing I'd know to do is have the dealership replace the unit for you.

probably a dimmer control going bad.

Next time it happens move the dimmer control and see it fixes it. If so get a new assembly.

Thanks I will try that. Any thing will help Ford wants 400 bucks and they will have to have my truck for atleast a week because they will have to send my cluster off to California to have it fixed and I am not going to do that.
