My ABS light came on last night. If I turn the truck off it stays off until I begin to drive again, anyone else have issues with this? Most likely scenario?

Check to see if the bulb is blown in your passengers side mounted airbag deactivation switch. The symptom your describing isn't common to that issue but it could be a minor short in the bulb only losing contact when moving....throwing guesses here. If it is blown then it's a very cheap diy fix as compared to buying an entire new p.a.d. assembly from ford.

**EDIT***.....I'm tired....ABS....not SRS. Sorry about that. Clean your wheel speed sensors/connectors with electronics spray and put dielectric grease in the connectors. Also, make sure there are no metal shavings stuck to the magnetic speed sensor face as they'll cause issues once they build up enough.

Get it scanned and see if there are any codes. No codes, check electrical including bulb.

I had a similar problem that took awhile to find...I accidentally crushed the wire under my seat that goes to the seat heater..the wire was hitting the metal causing the fuse to blow...There is a fuse under the dash and UNDER THE HOOD(drivers side) One of the most suggestions I got when I had this problem was testing the ABS sensor that sits on top of the pumpkin of the rear end...also checked the sensors by the front brakes...IIRC you just check for continuity with volts meter.

Also check your speed sensor on the front spindles, I have the very same problem 2 weeks ago. The bolt that held mine in backed out and allow the sensor to fall out. Stuck the sensor back in with a new bolt. No more ABS light.
I also didn't have any codes.

The ABS module runs a self test at every key cycle. It is not seeing an issue while sitting still. Once you start to move it is seeing a loss of one of the speed sensors. Any of the three can cause it. The most frequent sensor that I see go out is in the rear diff. I'd check all of the sensors and wiring first.

Only way to know for certain is to monitor the pid data in the ABS module. You will need some pro equipment to do that.

its probably the sensor on the rear diff, very cheap, very easy to replace. under $20, I would replace that and go from there.

Thanks guys. Unfortuantely a friend has a snap-on Modis but didn't have the k20 key. I may just replace the three sensors.

Start with the one on the rear diff

^ check the rear diff sensor first.. I had my light coming on and all I did was pull the rear sensor out, clean it off, and put it back in and it hasn't come on in about 2 1/2 years.. worth checking before you spend any $$..

shame you can't run a scan on it and get the ABS code but more than likely its that Rear diff sensor like these other guys are saying.... try pulling the harness and pluging it back in that works sometimes and might save you some money. Also if you pull the front sensors and just clean the crap off of them that will fix them as well.

It's on the rear of the pumpkin on the drivers side. It's the only sensor on it. I you can't find it your in for some real trouble... Lol
