Hey guys,

Recently purchased a 2003 L that needs a new steering gearbox. I've searched all the local autoparts places who say an f-150 steering gearbox won't work.

Where do I get a steering gearbox for a Lightning? Anyone have a model number?

I can't seem to find a salvage yard lightning to pull it off of either, so I'm all out of ideas as to what to get and where to get it.

Yeah, I did ask on facebook. The only semi helpful answer I recieved was to check redhead or motorcraft but everything I found said "except lightning" which leads me to believe that the gearbox was lightning specific and those guys don't make one.

Was really hoping to find one locally around DFW too I might add. I'm hoping to knock this out this week after work so I can move on to EGR Delete this weekend. 6# Pulley, SBTB, MAF, CIA, and tune next weekend.

I'm curious as to whats different about them

I'm Looking at an F150 vs Lightning and they look the same in the pics from what I can tell...Different lock to lock ratio maybe?

The 03/04's had a revised ratio...

The L's had a "sportier" feeling steering ratio. Noticeably different when you drive a regular f150 and a L back to back.
