It's a cut off for new car sales. And it'll be rolled back several times.
Yup. As was posted at Zero Hedge several times ,there isn't enough lithium in the world to have everyone and their mother driving a fucking ev. I've read that one or two foreign countries are actually banning ev's by 2030. And Norway won't allow them to be shipped on their overseas ships due to the risk of lithium fires. New York is having a hell of a problem with electric bicycles sparking building fires. Yeah, seems like a good thing. LOL!!

Correction, it's not just NY. It's all of the U.S. Entire buildings have burned to the ground by fires started by E-bikes. Bring it!

Ford is already having problems with their electric "Lightning". Tow a 5000 pound trailer, get 80 miles then recharge it. Drive it in the winter, get 120 miles then recharge it. YAY!

The electric "Hummer" weighs 9000 pounds. The battery weighs more than a Honda Civic. Takes 5 days to charge it in your garage. YAY!

I want one of each. NOT!!!

Man Discovers Brand New EV Hummer Will Take Five Days To Fully Charge

Electric Hummer Could Cost As Much As $100 Per Charge, YouTube Review Shows

Yep, seems like a bright future indeedy!

I don't understand the hatred, my brother is the same way. Nobody's gonna take away your gas powered classic, and gas stations aren't going anywhere any time soon... IMO a 0-60/2sec machine is aa fine piece of human engineering whether it runs on dino slime or electrons.

Guess you didn't read General Motors and Ford announce 2035 was the end of gas and diesel passenger vehicle production. It was in today's Associated Press feed to all member newspapers. With NY, NJ and California halting all instate registrations of non-EV's as well as car dealer licenses for the same, why would Detroit make fossil-fueled vehicles past that date, much less pasted 2030?

Again. That's new cars. The used car market will exist for decades beyond that.

I've also read that vw and Toyota refuse to make ev only.

And how long will the corner gas/diesel retailer be around after 2035? You got 12 years left to enjoy your truck. You'll never admit in 2036 that I was right back in 2023. Good luck with that.

  • Gas-powered vehicle sales peaked in 2017 with 86 million internal combustion passenger vehicles sold.
  • In the same year, battery-powered and plug-in hybrid cars sold for a little over 1 million vehicles combined.
  • In 2022, gas-powered car sales were down almost 20% from the 2017 peak of 69 million, while plug-in vehicles jumped to 10.4 million in sales, according to Bloomberg data.

The corner gas retailer will be around quite a while because the used car market will exist for quite a while.

You come find me in 2036 and if you're right I'll gladly admit it.

But as Toyota, the largest manufacturer in the world has stated they're keeping gas vehicles going, you can see why I'm skeptical.

Sorry, NYS will stop accepting new reg and re-reg so there will be a lot of gas and diesel cars heading to the shredder; remember Cash-For-Clunkers? They will make the taxpayer-financed incentives to buy an EV too attractive to resist. Especially after gasoline and diesel retailers start to close because of the huge reduction in sales. And what of the pump prices once demand drops by the expected 80%? Obama/Biden told you what to expect.
Your Halcyon daze won't last that long. You should have seen it coming, when the XL Pipeline project was shuttered.
The number of Iranian-built Nuclear power generators that are popping up in third world nations is another indication of the death of internal combustion. Who would have thought of EV's on the streets of São Paulo?
You probably have at least 3 neighbors on your street with plug-in cars (and pickups.) That number will grow.
The EV hungry world doesn't care that 3 Congolese children die in the Colbalt mines for every Tesla battery produced. China has far bigger plans for your next ride.
Argue all you want, the numbers don't lie.
Enjoy your Gen 1 & Gen 2 Lightning now, while you still can. I know I will for the remaining 12 years.

I have zero ev's in my street and I don't personally own anything newer than 2001.

But come back and see me in 2035 and we'll talk.

I live in a very large apartment complex. There are no chargers here, there's one Leaf. That's it. And it sits and gathers dust from what I can see. 99% of the vehicles I see on the road daily are gas powered. I'm actually seeing fewer tesras today than I have a year or so ago. I've seen one Mach E. Haven't seen one of the wondervehicle Lightnings yet.
