So I did a ton of searches and all the post are pretty old, not much action on here anymore. Just seeing what peoples opinions are for the best sounding cat back out there now a days. I sold my lightning a while back and just got another so starting over. Was thinking the magnaflow 15714 or the bassani 54150L? Probably will end up getting a mid pipe too down the road. No headers. The truck will just have a 4 or 6lb lower and a tune for the most part, just a weekend cruiser but want it to sound mean. Any thoughts? thanks

I miss stock manifolds/cats with the Bassani.

Those Bassani mufflers are a completely different design internally...split core with louvers, instead of straight thru with perforated pipe (Magnaflow). It creates a more balanced and raspy growl than the Magnaflows. The Bassani design is the only one that gets rid of that weird pulsing tone our trucks make at WOT due to the uneven length mid pipes.

Unfortunately, once you go to headers and eliminate the factory cats they take on a booming tone at low throttle.

I loved my magnaflow, always got compliments on how it sounded. Video is super old and doesn't really do it justice

I found this and this is Bassani cat back with Bassani off road mid pipe, I like the sound but almost sounds "tiny", like a baffle is loose or something.

I know it's probably not available anymore, but I love my Borla with the two back cats deleted. Not annoyingly loud, but let's you know it's there when you stomp the loud pedal.

that sounds good, wow your truck is clean. Is that a cat back kit or did you buy the mufflers and have it made? Love the detail on the blower.

It’s not my L, but I’m copying his setup. I watched a lot of YouTube videos of different exhaust setups and the spintech 9000s sound the best to me. This guy has two spintech 9000 mufflers (2.5”), X pipe, high flow cats, and Bassani tips.

Damn, I was thinking I might get to see it in person!

Super old video of my first lightning circa 2006.

Stock manifolds and midpipes. Had an exhaust shop copy the old JDM silver bullet setup.
It wasn't bad. Sounded good. Little loud.

Current lightning when it had shorties and magnaflow

I take it the silver bullets aren’t made anymore? The only 4 major cat back systems I can find ready to go on the market anymore are Borla, bassani, Magnaflow and flowmaster and it seems like not too many like the flowmaster or Borla on these trucks

Am I the only one who thinks bassani sounds like trash? My truck came with a bassani cat back and I hated it. Sounded bad IMO. Magnaflow all the way. If you put headers on that will really make the cat meow. But I digress.

I think Bassani sounds okay, but to me it’s too tame. Yes headers does make a big difference and so does having stock cats, high flow cats, or no cats as well. Someone needs to add a clip of the ARH catback. I think in another thread someone mentioned that ARH only sells the catback complete with their headers.

You’re the one with the sonic blue L ! That’s my favorite color out of all of them. I’m hoping to find an 03 sb cobra to go alongside my black L one day.
I got to update my profile, sold that a few years back and regretted it ever since. Couldn’t find another so bought a 02 trueblue.
