My original intercooler busted up. I suspect it froze last winter. So I need to get the water percentage down and put in some anti-freeze

I was thinking of getting a cheap pump - empty the JLP res - pour in some Prestone - start the motor repeat - test the protection level until 20 below.

any other easy suggestions ?

Truck is in an attached garage, but it got super cold last year.

Drain the IC system via the petcock located on the passenger, lower corner of the heat exchanger. A 3/8" section of hose slips onto the nipple perfectly and you can catch the old coolant in a jug. Once the system is empty simply pour in the coolant of your choice. 50:50 mix would probably be suffice but you can get straight coolant is that would make you more comfortable. I prefer to jumper the IC pump relay but you can just start the truck and wait for the ECU to trigger the relay closed, it just takes longer.

Congrats on the new lease on life, :cheers to many more healthy years.

What he said. No need to buy a cheap pump when one resides on the truck. However, I prefer to drain using that valve as well, so as not to cavitate the pump.
