I have recently purchased a 2002 Lightning with 80,000 miles on it. The mod list is ported Eaton blower, forged short block, 8# lower pulley. when I go WOT the transmission slips and then when you resume normal throttle all is fine. The trans fluid is overfilled and a light reddish pink color. Does this mean I need a trans rebuild?

it was the 2-3 shift, and only after it is up to operating temperature. I have a new valve body and 4x4 pan on order. So I was waiting for those parts to come in before messing with the trans. The color being on the pink side made me think there was coolant mixing in and that was the reason for the overfill.

If there's a breach in the trans cooler in the radiator then you'd see trans fluid in the coolant too. That's easy enough.

Also coolant and trans fluid won't mix, and waters heavier than oil. If you pull the plug you'll see water before trans fluid.

If it's over full, and you're sure you checked the level correctly I'd stop driving it until you can correct the condition.
