New engine is in…

So after a month of being down the truck was revived with a new power plant this past weekend. Was able to get it done in 1.5 days.

I got a donor engine to go in with some goodies in it with only some minor track outing use. No real street miles on it.

Pulled the broken engine out and when I was taking off the blower lower pulley hub I knew immediately something was off… the damn hub and crank moved up and down! BROKE A CRANKSHAFT!

I also vented the block in 2 places. I have not had time to open it up but I’m anxious to do so.

Another thing that was off was that the ARP bolt and washer for the crank was loose! Don’t know how or why or even if that could have caused the failure.

As for the new engine… took the truck out for the first time today and let’s just say I’m a little disappointed with the way it now sounds! It sounded waaayyy better before! I have just joined the no blower sound Whipple club lol. Can’t hear my Whipple anymore.

Grateful that the truck is up and running at least and i will be building another engine with my old heads (hope they are ok) and new cams like @Dark Side is rocking. Love the way his truck sounds. Now for some pics….

so the whipples don't whine huh. good to know. I've been doing a little blower shopping for my new setup and really want to hear that whine when I stomp on it. I guess Kenne Bell it is...
Broke the crank?!

Oh but Whipples do scream. With the right head/cam combo. On the broken engine I was running Fox Lake Racing CNC ported heads and the works. Custom grind bullet cams. That’s what made my Whipple scream before.

New engine has trick flow heads as well and comp cams. Truck is raspy with this long block. Keep in mind I used everything I was using before on previous engine. Same blower setup.

Yes sir! I believe I was right at 1000HP flywheel. To the wheels before Eric Korn tuned it put down 840HP on a Dynojet. Never been faster with anyone before Eric’s tuning. I’m guessing the truck was pushing close to the 900HP range with Korn tune.

Can’t wait to see the broken crank in my hands! Goons be getting a Cobra Jet crank next. I was running the stock L“forged” crank.

Can you still even find one of those...I thought they'd been discontinued for years now.

JDM had a batch a while back. I grabbed a “spare” in case I ever go big with my 4x4.

I got two from JDM also, years ago, but didn't think they had gotten any more since then...

I had heard that also but they have popped up occasionally. Just need to jump on one quick. If I can’t find one, I’ll be going with one of those expensive cranks Marty is running from Colorado. I forget there name! Anyone know?
Winberg. 😀
