Wanted to introduce myself, I own a 2001 black lightning in the Pinehurst NC area. No pics, I don't ever take pictures of anything, the truck is stock except for a K&N intake, but I have a pulley and tune, along with a mid pipe and cat back on the way.


Also, any shops in the area that specialize in lightnings? I know Fastlane performance in Benson works on them, and I've taken more then one mustang to them, but wondering if there are different options, like in Fayetville or Sanford?

Welcome to LR, I'm in Fayetteville, and there are a few shops here in town that I would trust, but usually do my own work in my shop. You can check T&G automotive 910-868-1078 ask for Tom, or Auto Tech 910-484-0606 ask for Robert. These are good shops and expect to pay anywhere from 60-80/hr labor rate. Depending on what it is, and how fast ya need it, I can do it at my shop, and I charge 30/hr. I have lifts and welding capability as well. However, I'm limited on time(nights and weekends) do to regular job(DOD). Anyway, hope that helps.

Really I need the pulley installed, and the Air intake checked over. I love vehicles, I am just not mechanically inclined enough to work on something like that myself. If you want, message me your number and we could set something up. Thirty an hour sounds great, and Im not far from Fayetville at all. I also would prefer to support a fellow lightning enthusiast over a generic performance shop [smilie=3g

Autotech is garbage and fastlane does ok work. I would make the drive to Conway SC AVT performance is the best around. If your not willing to drive competition auto in spring lake is where I would go. Carl takes good care of his customers.

I wouldn't let Comp work on my lawn mower they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my buddies stang and they are supposed to be "stang specialists". Bottom line is, most of the shops around are hot garbage, and they don't care if they fix yer shit or not, becuse they know there are 100 new GI's coming through FT Bragg they can bend over. Thats why I do my own work! I know opinions are like ass holes, but as long as we're talkin shit about shops !!!! I'm just sayin. I plan to take my lightning to Amazon, after I do a few more things to it, as it seems they have got their shit together.

There are more bad shops than good around these parts. I would only trust my truck at Boosted Performance and Amazon Racing! You can't get a better combo than that. :bigtu

Welcome. Yeah I have to agree that Autotech is garbage. My DD 98 GT had work done there by the previous owner within the last 12 months. 4.10 gears and rebuild the rear end, the rear end cover leaks bad. Did a "custom 2.5 inch exhaust" that looks like cobbled together crap. It honestly looks like he did 2.25" pipe 90% of the way and ran it in to the 2.5" mufflers and welded around it. On the tail pipes he dented both of them in to gain clearance for the rear tires, it's like 2" on each pipe.

I used to use Comp Auto but after I had them change the u-joint for my truck I won't use them anymore. Took my driveshaft in to them and they clamped down so hard on the yoke that it left impressions of the vice. Of course I didn't notice this until after I put it back in and it started leaking. Arthur was redoing make exhaust and changing my leaky tailshaft seal, he called me to tell me that my driveshaft yoke was trashed. He cleaned it up the best he could and put a new seal in it and it tore the new seal up and started leaking. Went back to Comp with my receipt showing they did the u-joint change and they denied that it was their work that damaged the yoke. I showed them the marks, the old seal that was ripped up bad and they told me it didn't happen in their shop. So now I have to get a new yoke since they destroyed mine.

I highly recommend AVT, the piece of mind more than makes up for the drive. The only bad thing I've ever heard about Arthur is that he doesn't tune turbo's. There has been a lot of 10 second trucks come out of his shop, if I could afford Bogarts and race gas I would be another one.

They dont have a perfect record either. There will be complaints with any and all shops but if it were me spending my hard earned money Id take my truck to Arthur Todd @ AVT in Conway hands down.
