Hello guys. I'm fairly new to lightnings and not with fords. My lightning has been making the lash adjuster rattle. The rattle was faint and has gradually been getting worse. I started the truck the other night and the rattle lasted a great deal of time. It did not stop until the engine was fully warm. I researched and seems like it's a common issue that has been associated to the modular engines. I read it's ok to leave it if you aren't annoyed by it. My is past annoying. I don't beat on the truck I generally just cruise in it. In my possession of the truck it's been wot 5 times for a short burst. I always let it get fully warm before any throttle has been moved more than 30%. What tools am I going to need to do this job? I'm also going to pull the intercooler and clean it plug the turkey pan. I have an oil separator I'm going to install also. Thanks for the help and for any tips.

Trick flow makes a tool you need to replace the adjusters.

It isn't a hard job just time consuming and better done with a helper. This tool allows you to compress the spring and slide to follower out so you can replace the lash adjuster. You will need to rotate the crank by hand to get the cam lobes to a position to make removing the followers easy. Have a good selection of 3/8" extensions and a nice long handle ratchet wrench for leverage and your helper do the compressing while you remove the followers and adjusters and then replace them. Hint, do each one completely before moving on. If you take them all out you are likely to have your timing chain jump.
