Motor Mount Install Question

153 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Certified Drunk
When I removed my engine, I had to unbolt the motor mounts from the block because I couldn't get the long bolts out of the frame mount.

My question: When I do the install does it go back in easier with the mounts bolted to the block or with the mount bolted to the frame mount in the truck?

Sorry for the simple questions, this is my first time doing this myself. 🤔🙃

Thanks!!!

This is the way they were when the motor came out.

I just installed mine today. I’m not sure of the proper way to do it, but I had the remove them completely. Set the engine in place and bolt the trans up. Then lift the engine back up and install each mount. The oil cooler kept getting in the way with them in place.

Thanks, Cobra456hp. There is a good chance I will be doing this solo, and your scenario is exactly what I am trying to avoid.

***Any engine installers out there have any input. Thanks.
I found this old post from 2012 that provides some info on the motor mounts.

Did you figure it out?

it helps if you pull the transmission back a couple inches.
Install the 1/2 if the drivers side to the engine and the whole mount on the passenger side. You can access the two nuts from underneath the cross member. Nuts are 18mm

don’t forget to clock the flex plate and torque converter.
