Very interesting Jody!
(BTW: How's the new motor feel? / Are you going to that dyno day? - Would be cool to meet you.)
On mine, I think we got like 2-3 lbs of boost over the extrude-honed ported intake I had.
The motor was running lean despite the 50# injectors and dual 255lph fuel pumps, so in
went a KB Boost-A-Pump to fix that problem.
Back on the dyno, the numbers didn't happen as it appeared my stock header, stock cat combo was choking off the power.
So, we back down the upper pulley from 3" to 3.5" so I'm only pushing 15 lbs of boost now.
Previously at 15lbs of boost and the extrude-honed intake
(I saw ~1 lb of boost over stock with this), I was making 540 rwhp.
At 17lbs of boost and the extrude-honed intake, I was making 563.
With the sheetmetal intake, at 15 lbs of boost, I'm making 555 rwhp.
So that's a net gain of 15hp while turning the KB slower than I did previously to get the same boost.
I was really hoping the combo that made 563 would have jumped to 580.
Do you think that 600 rwhp is impossible through the stock headers/cats?
I have been on the fence with the long-tube header idea.
On one hand, they sound cool and give you power.
On the other hand, with CA smog I'd have to swap them out every 2 yrs for the inspection
with the stockers despite having cats, and they are LOUD.
