Good book to help suplement the SCT ProRacer Manual (and alot less that $75)

"How to Tune & Modify Engine Management Systems" by Jeff Hartman

I picked up a copy at Borders for $29 only to find it online for $19.

The book give very good, easy to understand outline on the sensors, actuators and controllers for engine management and control. It is a heavy read - quite a lot to absorb. I've made it about 1/2 way though and, so far, highly recommend it for general ECM and component function understanding.

Yeah, the $75. manual is mostly covered in the help section included with the Pro Racer, but there are some helpful tables for running different injectors, etc. plus some more in-depth info.

That book sounds good Herb and would be a very good idea for anyone considering doing their own tuning who isn't familiar with EFI operation. Thanks for the tip! :smt023

Welcome Cal - glad you found us!!

I don't have the software yet, so I can't comment on what it comes with, but the book is an actual spiral bound, 120 page book with tuning tips and software usage tips. It's expensive at $75, but it has good info. Maybe one of the other guys can comment on how well it relates in their use, as I am still gathering info.

Here are a couple links - I scanned the cover, the table of contents and a random sample page, so you can get the 'flavor' of it.

You can change the tune for whichever MAF or extender you plan to run, but it doesn't replace the bigger MAF/extender. If you're maxing the stock MAF you'll still have to make a change.
