Front Bar

The hellwig I got came with the end links and the frame bushings. You just need to pull the old one out with the end links and replace with the parts from hellwig.

Ive been reading, they are good cons is that it is heavier than original, in the other hand the hotckis one is hollow out and lighter and over all it will work way better as complete kit which is the tvs and its 1300

What I read in the reviews is that this swaybar should only be used with the same companies rear model. The oversize overstiff front one alone causes handling issues. That's what I would do in any event.

My Ranger did not have a rear sway bar when new. I added a Hellwig not long after I bought it. Along with the stock front one, my Ranger is a good handling truck.

So since it's my SD it won't be all that great? Either way I'm going to wait on this for now and just installed new bushing and new end links to the sway bar see if that helps out. Right now I just order all my tie rods and control arms to do the front end suspension. I have a real bad shake/play in my steering causing my entire truck to shake... see if that has to do with the problem I have.

This is hands down the best sway bar. It is heavier but these trucks are beasts and this helps in cornering. It should come with everything however...if your truck is lowered you will have to modify the end links a little by getting shorter bolts and cutting the sleeves down. Make *SURE* to get all grade 8 hardware. You can change to a standard instead of metric (or vice or versa)but make sure everything is Grade 8.:bigtu

so if i was to buy this one right now and the rear one later is no good, is better to get both at the same time?
it is best to have the right balance front to rear.

the hellwig is the stiffest bar for the L.

the hotchkiss is hollow and either the same outside diameter or smaller, i can't remember, and therefore less stiff than this solid bar.

I went with hellwig front and rear since regular F-150's dont come with a rear bar. It was the cheapest route at the time and it turns out it was the best decision for handling as well. I do agree if you go with say a TVS suspension kit, it should be balanced between front and rear. Friend of mine has TVS setup on his L and man can that thing handle. Cant wait to see how it turns out.:bigtu

Here's an article on sway bars by Tim Skelton. Very informative, as are all his Lightning articles. It appears, that despite being heavier, the Hellwig is the stiffest bar by far, front and rear.

Tim Skelton's take on anti sway bars

Some numbers from the article. Percent stiffer than the factory bars. Look at that rear! 144% stiffer than the factory Lightning bar!

Front Hotchkis 82%
Hellwig 105%
Rear Hotchkis 26%
Hellwig 144%

The Hotchkis bars weigh 16 pounds front and 6 pounds rear.
The Hellwig bars weigh 29 pounds front and 17 pounds rear.

I've got a Hellwig on the rear of my Ranger, which came with none stock. It's a good handling Ranger. Should replace the front with one as well.

I have the front and rear sitting in the garage waiting to go on. I do lots of research before buying anything and I can say for sure these are the best you will get
