My experiment to push the HEATON to it's limit has proven to be quite successful. Today was a great barometer to see how the recent tuning session translated into reduced ETs. For those that don't know, here is my list of mods:
JLP shortblock/Stage Three Comp Cams/TEA CNC heads/larger SS valves
50lb injectors
Extrude Hone upper intake
Extrude Hone lower intake
Accufab Tbody
Kooks L/T's with cats
Stiegemeier Ported HEATON
elec fan
Plasma Booster
C&L intake with JLP ram air system
Beru plugs
Walbro's
MAF extender
SCT Tuning
2400 stall FT billet converter
FTVB
15lbs boost (due to high flow heads and HEATON porting)
The following runs were recorded at MIR track rental 3/18/05, 60 degree F
11.443 @ 118.40 10:17 A.M.
11.339 @ 118.75 10:22 A.M. (hotlap)
11.359 @ 119.54 11:41 A.M.
11.264 @ 119.37 11:52 A.M. (hotlap)
11.198 @ 119.93 1:03 P.M.
11.264 @ 118.95 1:13 P.M. (hotlap)
I have been racing my L for 4 years now and this is the first time I can ever remember running such strong hotlap numbers. The HEATON usually falls off considerably when hot, and to better the ETs with no appreciable difference in 60' time is unheard of. Props must be given to Bob Stiegemeier, who spent considerable time and effort to add additional clearance and work his magic on the HEATON. His expertise and knowledge regarding maximizing the potential of this stock blower are unparalleled. Bob is eager to help the BTJ pursuit vehicle achieve even better ETs and I appreciate his support of my goals.
Special thanks should also be provided to JJ of Woodbine Motorsports. I was one of JJ's first customers, and have been an ardent supporter since meeting him in late 2001. He made a wise decision to align himself with JLP in 2003, and has continued to provide excellent customer service and produce results at the track on a consistent basis. My L is only a Cecil Mod away from achieving my next goal.
