The water at my house leaves horrible spots on the cars. Its running through a Culligan Whole House water filtration system, but apparently the salt doesn't soften the water enough. Was talking to one of the techs over at Aerolon, hoping that Tech Shine would help keep the spots away, and he suggested the Griots portable deionizer. Wondering if its worth dropping the coin and giving it a shot. I mean its only $300. After spending $1950 on the BMWs paint and $600 on the CQuartz UK ceramic, its only like 10% more.
Thoughts or other ideas? Waterless washing has been brought up, but its not a solution I like as it tends to leave minute scratches and swirls.
Thx.
Hi. We have the exact you are asking about one that we got a really good deal on from another outlet It is as advertised.....However....
Have you checked your dissolved solids i (TDS) at your house? My brother lives in the city and brags how he can get several washes of his cars and 40 foot RV.

Hi. I have the Griot deionizer. I bought it because my brother loves his. He lives in the city and kept bragging how many times he can wash his cars and his 40 foot 5th wheel RV.
Have you checked your water TDS (total dissolved solids?) Out of the ground we have 900+ TDS (Total dissolved solids). My brother's city water, out of the tap, is under 100. I played with it once or twice but got serious when I washed my 20 ft boat, then the F250 long-bed, all of which looked beautiful, then started on our own bid RV. I got 2/3 of the way around the RV when suddenly the water stopped sheening down the windows. That was that.
So, if you have water hard enough to need that much deionizing you can still do a really good job on your toys, but plan on buying a lot of deionizer media, and always have extra in case you run out during a job. It's probably true that these things are rated when running city-water through them. They sometimes publish charts that show capacity of deionization based on total dissolved solids in the water you start with. My brother gets 4-6 times more use from his deionizer than do I. They wok no matter how hard your water with dissolved solids, but it will have to have much less flow and will cost substantially more in media costs.
