I got the harness disconnected and the box loose but cannot disconnect the cable from where it connects to the TB. Am I doing something wrong? Any special way to unclip it?

grab the little black connector on the end of the cable that attaches to the throttle body and push back towards the firewall

The cruise control hardware has nothing to do with the fire issue. That is the deactivation switch on the brake master cylinder. You can remove the cruise servo and still have a fire issue if you leave the switch hooked up.

I removed my CC over the winter due to never using it.

After the 500 mile round trip journey to Vinnies a couple of weeks ago..... I wished that I still had it.
