Greetings to all. I am shortly coming into possession of a low mileage 2012 Coyote. I just think it is time to "Modernize". Plus I am addicted to 4 valve heads.

I already have an A1 billet 4r100 with converter, so I will stay with that and use an after market Trans PCM.

I have my eye on a Coyote Whipple kit. And probably need to do some rods and pistons along with gapping the rings with a good oil pump, HD secondary cam chains, Billet crank timing gear.

I need to stay emissions compliant and mostly a street truck. So a middle of the road cam set and CNC ported heads might work fine.

The real work is to adapt the accessories to the Coyote.

Does anyone have any experience with a coyote swap?

Ss this had a badass procharged 5.0 first gen being built before his unfortunate passing.

Edit: oops useless post. I thought this was in the gen 1 section

With the idea and knowing that these Cranks are obsolete for the 5.4 cast iron blocks in the future it will be needed to buy a coyote engine to power these trucks. If people keep blowing up these engines you will be able to find a built engine anymore That being said if I do blow up my built engine ......my next power plant will be an LS-based engine with the 4L80e transmission

Just use the GT500 crank, DR3Z6303A
Only difference is the added weight for balancing and your building an engine, you will need to have it re balanced.

find one lol
You can get the DR3Z from Ford direct still it's the 13-14 GT500 crank, you can also still get the 5.4L Truck cranks. You just can't get the GT500 (Cobra Jet) crank's any longer. But we offer them as we have a stock pile <img src="http://www.lightningrodder.com/forum/images/smilies/001.gif" border="0" alt="" title="" class="inlineimg" /> http://www.teamjdm.com/cobra-jet-ford-5-4l-forged-crankshaft/
You mean the lightning crank or regular f150 crank ? Because I was told the lightning Cranks are obsolete

Blower? You would really put a LS in a Lightning or were you just kidding?
not kidding at all most reliable platforms and dime a dozen. You can find a built engine in the junkyard with tons of miles on them. Amazing 4.8, 5.3 out of a Tahoe , suburban, Silverado , avalanche etc can handle tons of power at such a cheap cost vs building a modular. So if my New built 5.4 kicks the bucket that’s what I will do. Ofcourse a nice precision 80mm snail will go along with it

For someone reason it seems everyone has forgotten the SOHC 6.2L engine. Wonder why no one has ever tried it. That engine with a turbo would be a monster.

I'm glad I'm not alone with thinking this as well. I believe most here know it, but hate to admit it let alone actually type it out. We can sink some big money into our builds that are labeled "cookie cutter", but cost $15,000+ easily. You can get a 5.3 or 6.0 relatively cheap and easily. Throw a cam in it and a healthy shot of nitrous and it will outrun a "cookie cutter" 5.4 build in one of our trucks.

Exactly. I’m not afraid to say it. I’m not brand biased either. I love all brands with balls behind it. Honda’s don’t count I don’t care if they run 9s they still sound like shit. But yes. I can’t swallow paying. Another $12-15k on a build on a modular. You can pay $400 for a long block LS based engine put a decent head gasket and head studs, cam, turbo it and make more power than a modular

Yes the Lightning Cranks are F-150 stock cranks, it's been the same crank since 1997. The GT500 (CJ) is a F-150 crank but the bolt hole is drilled and threaded deeper. The 13-14 GT500 crank goes through and extra finishing process and has more weight for balancing purpose. Either way, you can get 5.4L cranks to build engines for this platform still, they just cost more now.

Theres a good many trucks popping up around me that are mild combos that are running strong. Not sure on power, but most should easily be mid 10 sec trucks. They have some mo em in them, but I doubt they have in theirs what I have in mine and they will likely outrun mine. 600+ hp isnt ehst much any more and they are easier to get to that vs our platform. LS motors sound so good too with a good cam in it. Our trucks are still very iconic though and have a different look than most. I kinda like em all
