Recently came across these Full Android based units while searching for a new high end Double DIN.

I was looking at the overpriced Pioneer 8201NEX until I saw someone comment about the Joying Full Android Car Audio System with all the apps from the Play Store.

After doing a bit of research I was impressed with all the features these units have, it's pretty much like installing a plug and play tablet as your stereo.

I mainly purchased it so I could monitor my ECU with Torque App straight from the head unit without the need for Aeroforce Gauges or external phones and tablets.

Couple of key features:

  • Full Android System
  • Quad Core CPU
  • 2GB Ram
  • 32GB Storage Drive
  • 2 seconds Boot Time
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • NFC (Quick Pairing)
  • 4G Wifi Hotspot
  • 7" inch HD 1024 x 600 Capacitive Touch Screen
  • Backup Camera
  • External Mic (Optional)
  • GPS / Navigation
  • 2 USB Ports for external storage, DVR Cameras, Flash Drives, ect.
  • Dash Cam DVR recording
  • Outputs for Amps, Video & Subwoofers
  • Supports all Apps from the Play Store

All of these features for only $300 shipped to your door from Amazon, these things are selling like hot cakes from people that know about these units.

Blows away all of the overpriced Double Dins on the market! :smt023

That's a badazz little piece! I really wish that they'd work on getting an analog input into Torque. You wouldn't think it'd be that hard! If they added that capability it would be a huge kick in the nads to other datalogging methods.

I've been in need for a new head unit for years, ever since mine launched out of the dash and hit the back wall of the cab on a good 60' launch at the track....startled the crap out of me! Been pushed to the back burner though the past few years with all the other hiccups and headaches of pushing the limits of my combo. This HU is a strong contender to throw back in it, especially hearing the good review. The only thing I was on the fence on was if I could find a windows based HU, then I could run SCT Live link on it and datalog with analog inputs on the legit deal.

You need the Metra Mounting Kit & Harness for 97-03 F150's, both can be purchased at your local Best Buy or Ebay.

You'll also have to trim your stock mounting bracket if your dash isn't modified for a Double DIN yet, a Dremmel makes for an easy job. I also had to trim the top of the radio dash panel since the screen is a little bigger than the opening.

Yeah it would be badass to datalog straight from the HU, the software is always updating so it could be possible in the future.

I needed a new HU anyways and I love Android so this fit the ticket at a great price. The design of the screen is also clean and minimal with no buttons extruding from the sides, almost looks like a tablet installed on the dash. :smt023

Thanks, I have Speedhut gauges for Fuel, Oil & Boost. The switch panel below the HU is for my Line Lock, I/C Pump & E-Fans.

How'd you do the rear of your cab interior black?

I have a full Harley dash, center console, doors, a-pillars, kick panels, door sills, and seat belts..... but I don't think the rest of the rear plastics are interchangeable.

Did you paint or dye them? Is there any other Harley interior pieces that transfer over?

Thanks!

SEM's black paint is an exact match for the Harley dash. I don't know the exact color code, but they sell one that is a perfect match to HD interiors.

How bright is that screen at night? I'm guessing it's an adjustable brightness and has a screen off feature like most other in-dash units these days?

sweet seats. did you mount the power seat track, or manual track?
Manual, no need for the extra weight. :p

Yes, you can adjust the brightness for night time driving. It's Android so you can pretty much customize it however you want. You can also install home screen launcher apps to customize the UI as well - Nova Launcher, Google Now Launcher, Car Launcher, ect.

Most "top name" double dins have horrible UI and low resolution screens (800 x 480). The Joying unit is (1200 x 600) with a nice Android UI.

They're always updating the software too, they're planning on releasing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the next month or so.

Looks awesome. Is it Siriusxm capable?
Not sure, I don't use the radio or Siriusxm so didn't look into it.

If it is android you would only need to have a Sirius account and run the app. I have Sirius in my F250 but use my phone to bluetooth to my radio in my HD. This might make me finally buy a head unit thanks for bringing this to my attention.
