Hey fellas,

I posted over on svtp with no luck so I figured I’d try here where the home of the lightning is.

I’ve got a 99 Svt lightning with 11k miles. It is bone stock with the exception of a flow master cat-back and a JLT “cold air” that looks out of place IMO.

I want a stock air box that’s in mint shape to match the truck.

I’ve had a few people offer me a 01+ box with piping and hardware.

Will the newer boxes fit my 99 and it’s stock MAF?

99 with 11k is totally rare. kept in storage?

99/00 have a 80 mm MAF. 2001 up have a 90. The airbox bolts to the MAF. So it's likely the 2001 up have a larger hole where the MAF fits tot he box.

I’d go with the ‘01-‘04 box and 90mm MAF/tune for safety anyway (truck might already be tuned for the 90mm MAF)

You can measure it. 80mm vs 90mm

On a stock boost truck there are some drivability gains from a tune. But the power won't be world beating

99/00 came at 360 hp. 01 up came with 380 hp. Supposedly the 20 hp gain was from the MAF alone. I don't think anyone's ass will feel 20 hp. Unless it's a finely tuned ass.

I put an SCT can tune on my 01 L which was advertised to add 25 hp and I could tell a big difference. Then again, that's rwhp as opposed to 20 hp at the motor.

So if I got a later year maf and box and got a Sct handheld I can upload a tune from it that would make the new 90 maf work on my 1999 correct ?
