So I got a great price on this setup from my buddy’s that own a tire shop. Looking on some recommendations for tire size and something that will hook. I’m not at enough power to have the beadlocks but for the price I couldn’t pass it up .😂 I’m thinking 315/50 17 Mickey Thompsons for rear.. Not sure about the front they’re 17x5s

Well, most run M & H 390/40-17s on the rears and Mickey Thompson 28 X 6 X 17 Street Runners on the front. All of them are backordered to infinity. I bought a set of 17 inch Race Stars last year in the summer, still unable to buy tires for them. Probably the reason your friend sold them to you.

Who makes that 315/50-17?

I already switched to 4.10 gears in the axle in anticipation of the taller tire. I don't now, nor have I ever, raced my truck. Too many other vehicles out there that are faster, from the factory, than any Lightning ever will be. Even my three motorcycles make my Lightning seem like a lead slug. My Lightning is just a weekend pleasure vehicle for me. I love Lightning's, always will. Don't care if it's the fastest thing on the road. Unwilling to spend the money to make it that way.

Thanks, I'll look them up. Maybe with luck, they'll be available. Still the 28 X 6 X 17's don't even have an expected date of arrival.

He sold his lightning and a few weeks later he told me he had the welds he had ordered but never got to installing them. He has his shop here in Cali, authorized dealer for welds. He can get any tire you need also..

The M & H 390/40-17 isn't available until the end of July. The Mickey Thompson 28 X 6 X 17 may be available next month, if they don't kick it out another 20 days. So good luck on your friend being able to get them.

I'm a dealer for Welds, and M&H / MT tires....but it doesn't mean I will have them in the next month. I have a customer waiting on a set of Weld Ventura S104 rears and it is mid June at least. Tires are the same story.

Well, JunioRace (Jeff) is going to be able to help me with tires. Fronts right now, Mickey Thompson 28 x 6 x 17. And some Mickey Thompson 315/50-17 rears soon, these are 30 inch tires as well.

Man! They must use a Star Trek transporter beam to ship these tires. Paid for them around noonish central time Friday. They nearly kicked me in the shins when I walked out the door around 3 pm Saturday. Damn skippy1
