Searched the forums a few times for the info but no luck.

is there any way to identify an original or rebuilt block from a Lightning ?
I recently bought a nine running 01, claims it’s a L block.
Im in the middle of a Gen 3 Coyote swap in this lightning and have the engine on the floor, want to verify if it’s real L block or not before I decide what I want to do with it.
Thanks

Pretty sure i read somewhere there were only 2 kinds of 5.4 blocks. Like pre 99 and then after NVH newer to like 09 blocks? Not 100 percent sure but im pretty sure a L block is the same as any other 5.4 block.

2 cranks. Fordged and cast. L had the fordged. I think the pistons are what made the compression different.

Block alone it's tough.

To clear up things... Nvh blocks are 03+ prior to that are non nvh.

The forged crank wasn't just in lightnings. But lightnings only have a forged crank.
