History
I was originally looking for a nice 911 but the interior space was not going to work while being the designated driver for friends on nights out. I then decided I wanted the performance of a 911 in a sedan, that list in late 2010 was pretty small. Especially in the $25k range. I have to admit I had very little knowledge of the e39 M5 when I started my search. The fact that it's a Euro LHD car is definitely a unique bonus.

I purchased the car from a broker in JAN11. The previous owner was a doctor who daily drove the car. He also had a couple 1966 911 according to the insurance paperwork I found later in the M5. That must be one pretty cool old Doc. The broker's story was that the original owner was Teemu Salanne, but everything I've been able to find is that his car was a 2000. Who knows what the real story is on that? Twitter is an amazing thing, maybe he'll let me know directly. Luckily that didn't factor into my interest in the car, I'm not a hockey fan and had no idea who he was.

One of two e39 M5 Euro cars on the M Registry in the US.

Here's a discussion on the Board shortly after I picked the car up.
