  1. tranny pan

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Well Dusten, I'm going to do what I have wanted to do for awhile. I have a three gallon fuel can in the garage, clearly marked for three gallons. I'll put the trans pan on my work bench, and fill it with water from the three gallon container. If it's as you say, the three gallons (12 quarts)...
  2. tranny pan

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Maybe, maybe not. I'm going by the instructions. They say 16 quarts. When you pull the pan, the converter doesn't drain, far as I know. The instructions say to add 16 quarts. Obviously, when I get around to installing it, I'll add the fluid slowly so as not to overfill it, if what you say is the...
  3. New Ford Lighting Owner/ Bitter Sweet

    Gen 2 Lightnings
My Dad passed July last year. So I know the feeling. Sorry for your loss. As to the truck, all good suggestions above. Could be that sitting awhile, maybe the injectors are plugged with bunk. That's what happens when fuel sits in them for awhile and all the volatiles evaporate, leaving only the...
  4. Transmission temps question.

    Gen 2 Lightnings
How is 200 too hot? Since the transmission fluid passes through passages in the radiator, and it's around 180 or so because of the thermostat, wouldn't that transfer the same amount of heat to the transmission fluid? Seems to me it would. And when it's 90 outside, pretty mush assured the fluid...
  5. Snout shaft broken?

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Sorry for the things I said Mike, I was just extremely pissed. As I said, not asking for any money back. Will make it work, one way or another. Sometimes I just let my emotions get to me.
  6. "How To" remove the EGR and Boost bypass solenoid

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Didn't say remove the boost bypass valve itself. Mine has a brand new one that I put on with the Magnum Powers blower. I said delete the boost bypass solenoid on the metal strip beside the driver's side of the blower. Two different and separate parts. 01- 04 have them, apparently 99 and 00...
  7. Snout shaft broken?

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Enemies are fine. I have enough friends already. Don't need no more. In any event, I don't have the slightest clue ho to contact Jokerz. Probably FaceF*ck. Which means I can't, even if I want to. Like I said, I'll fix it myself. I suspect this has been going out on me since I put the blower...
  8. Snout shaft broken?

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Yup, still here. But you do notice, over on the right, that my picture has fallen to the bottom of the three top posters. By weeks end, it should be gone. But you know as well as I do, that if I had sold that blower to Mike, he'd be on here clamoring to get his money back. Know it like I know...
  9. Snout shaft broken?

    Gen 2 Lightnings
The shaft has no forward/aft movement at all. The bearings are fine. Evidently the surface the three pin part sits on is no good. Look at the two pictures I posted in the OP. The first is the part all the way down, the second how far it moves with no resistance. There is a lip on the three pin...
  10. Snout shaft broken?

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Well, got it back together again. Took it for a drive, soon as I hit boost it busted loose like I thought it would. Also, when I put the snout back on, two of the holes were stripped. Couldn't tighten the bolts as they just spun round and round. Worse is they are two bottom bolts. Needless to...
  11. Fuel Pressure

    Gen 2 Lightnings
I thought one of the big companies, such as Metco, had those in stock. Or is it JLP? LFP? Hmmmm!!! Here it is, JLP has them.
  12. Wideband

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Very useful information. I will have to remember this.
  13. "How To" remove the EGR and Boost bypass solenoid

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Just delete the boost bypass solenoid. 1999-2001 didn't have them, only 2002-2004. So the truck will run fine without it. I am told you may get a CEL for it being gone, since there is an electrical connector. I have mine hooked up for now, but I will be deleting it when I get all the gremlins...
  14. "How To" remove the EGR and Boost bypass solenoid

    Gen 2 Lightnings
The one that goes to the top of the solenoid is black. The one that goes to the boost bypass valve itself is pink. The double plug that goes to the solenoid is the only one that can't reach anything further forward. It's just the proper length to reach the solenoid and nothing else. Same for the...
  15. Eaton Case Scratches?

    Gen 2 Lightnings
The coupler wouldn't have anything to do with inside the case in any event. It only connects the snout drive shaft to the driver's side gear in the front of the case. If it's worn out, it'll just be noisy.
  16. Snout shaft broken?

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Same exact stuff I had with the Eaton. I've had the manual tensioner since 2015. I don't over-tighten the belt. Based on grabbing the belt between pulleys and twisting it, I don't run the belt any tighter than the stock spring tensioner.
  17. Snout shaft broken?

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Decided to bring it to work today and see what I can do with it. Brought a 36 mm socket, which fits perfectly around the three pins. Put a piece of .25 steel against the pulley, put the socket around the pins, closed the vise. Then got a "cheater" bar, and really cranked down on that vise. Heard...
  18. Snout shaft broken?

    Gen 2 Lightnings
The hammer was just to see if it would at least appear to fix the problem. As I said, have a press at work. Also have a very large vise which would work handily. Fit that large socket over the three pins, put it in the vise with the pulley on one side, socket on the other, close vise. May not...
  19. Snout shaft broken?

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Was looking at it, and to press fit that piece back on, don't see why it can't be done in place. The front pulley is flush with the front of the shaft. Should be able to press it back on in situ. Already took a large socket and a heavy hammer and fit it back on pretty good. Put the pulley on the...
  20. Snout shaft broken?

    Gen 2 Lightnings
Not that I could hear. With windows down and traffic all around, not very easy to hear something like that. If it did, it wasn't loud.
