Collings Foundation warbirds

FYI for those who love warbirds. The Collings Foundation will be at Wiley Post Airfield in Oklahoma City, from March 22 to 24. There will be a B-17, B-24, B-25, P-40 and P-51.

You can pay for rides in these, including actually flying the P-40 and P-51.

Yes, it's pricey. Two years ago bought tickets for a friend of mine and myself for the B-17. $900 for two people. But it was awesome, if you've never been an an aircraft with four radial engines, WOW!

Have two tickets for the B-24 this year. Can't wait. I'll always get a ticket for a good friend of mine who in no way could afford doing this.

Looks like Mother Nature is going to rain on the party. All three days. Oh well. I'll get a refund on the $900 bucks. Already inquired about it.

I love those old war birds. There's nothing like hearing those twin and in some cases triple row radial engines. When the confederate Air Force comes to town I don't miss out. I'd love to fly in a P-40 or P-51...maybe someday.

A possible rain out.. that sucks. I hope you can at least get your ride.

I'll be heading out to Kirtland AFB (Albuquerque) in May for their Air and Space Fiesta event.

A few weeks ago I was at Lackland AFB (San Antonio), no air show at that time but, they have good static displays.

The last time they were here, when I rode the B-17, it was in late summer/early fall. This time it's early spring, bad time in Oklahoma. Weather is very active here in the spring time. Hopefully they do a reschedule and try and come back later in the year when it's more calm.

Spring time here, we get too many powerful storms caused by warm air from the Gulf of Mejico, mixing with cooler air from the north. Makes for some exciting days and nights.
