saying just go buy a feeler gauge is like saying don't buy a whole socket set, just get 1 adjustable wrench. Some tools make things waaaaay easier, quicker, more consistent, etc. Sure you can gap your plugs with a rock to bang it against and your finger nail to set the gap....but sometimes specific tools makes things nicer.
