Default Whipple 3.4 with ice reservoir datalog

These are just some initial data logs on a Ice box that slow04 put on his 3.4 truck. He is planning on putting the truck on the dyno for some more data before going to the track.

The top data is stock IC system with larger reservoir and aftermarket H.E.

The bottom data is with all fluid pumping through copper lines in an Ice Box. No heat exchanger.

Both logs were done within 5 minutes of each other. The "Ice Box" log was done 2nd, so everything was a lot warmer.

Wow talk about a difference. The coolant was warmer so i am sure everything else was too and it still dropped 40*.

Same one, but he made some changes. He doubled the length of copper tubing in it.

those are some good results. can you post some pics of the setup with the copper tubing. i saw similar results just running a 4 gallon tank in the bed with ice and larger diameter hose with a mez pump.

does the fluid flow through the tubing in the tank and the ice is around the tubing?

What would the results be without the ice?...I ask because I am soon going to install a 7 gallon tank in the bed and am wondering if I could get by without using the HE...Since I am going to move the pump to the frame rail under the new tank, I could eliminate a lot of line without running through the HE...Or would I still be running high charge temps on a 85* day without icing.

Would salt not corrode up the tubing/intercooler? If not that is a great idea, it sure does keep beer nice and cold lol

Good idea with the salt. I thought about the salt trick after watching Ice Cream Unwrapped on the Food Network.

Pretty cool! I'm assuming that the salty ice water is seperated from the coolant running through the copper lines. Do you know what the I/C coolant temps are getting down to after running through that system?

Ive also thought about using dry ice but it didnt work like I wanted it too. Mainly because I added the dry ice to water. I should have added the dry ice to a dry cooling box.
