tools needed (1) small flat blade screwdriver (2) 4d finishing nails or (2) very small flat blade screwdrivers (1) soldering pen with silver solder (1) razor blade or a solder wick (5) 3mm LEDs in the color you want (1) piece 400 grit sandpaper (the finer the better) (1) Small pair of side cutters (1) CR2025 or other watch style 8 volt battery(optional) 1st take out your switch plate from the door, just pull up from the front and it will come right off. 2nd take your flat blade screwdriver and carefully pull the switches off the switch plate (see the small tabs ease your screwdriver in there and pop out one side at a time don't break the tabs) ![]() now that you have you switch out take your two 4d nails and pop the top of the switch off by prying the tabs on one side of the light. ![]() now you can see the small green LED that ford uses below is a before and after pic. ![]() here is a part you can do right up front if you want sand the top of the led off just until you get the dome off(you can then polish the sanded part or just wipe off the dust. 3rd take your LEDs and carefully bend the leads one to each side 4th take your razor blade and cut off the old LEDs (DON'T CUT THE CIRCUIT WHEN YOU DO THIS STEP) you can use your solder wick to get the old solder off also. 5th now that you have the old LED off build up a bit of solder on the pads then solder your LED on to the pad + of the LED to the pad with the + If you don't know witch lead is + use the small watch battery to check ![]() after you have both leads soldered then cut them off ![]() then before you put the switch back together you can plug it back in the truck and turn on the lights it should be light now. so put the switch back together and do the rest of them. then reinstall the switches in the plate and reinstall the plate in your truck and you have different colored door switches than most other people.

Great writeup. I have converted everything to blue except the door and steering wheel switches. This will be my next little project now. Thanks.
