View Full Version : Silverado or other CKs?
Any of you guys smoke any non-stock silverados? I have only found the video of that one guy blowing like 3 lightnings. I wanted to know... Why?

There is a guy at Milan with a 350 & whipple (non intercooled) chevy short bed. It's clearly a street driven pickup & 1/2 decent shape. On slicks he runs 13.2s... never saw him but a 12.9 though.
Rich
Anyone else? I saw a 04 run 10.02 and a late 70 early 80s one run low 9s...

You must be talking 1/8th mile right?
Any mild bolt on short bed chevy will run 9.7s-9.8s in the 1/8.
Rich
No I'm talking about 1/4.
I'm not just talking mild bolt ons =)
The Parish truck is the most noticable.

I dont run into many modded silverados. In fact theres only 1 in my area that is modded, and it was bolton with a 150shot. Still wasnt pretty for him.
I thought parishs claim to fame was the fastest 99+ silverado? Who is this that ran 10.0?

parrish does not want anything to do with the jlp truck.. 9.77 is just plain faster than a
10. what ever parrish runs.....
tell parrish to get a real truck (Lightning)
Parish's truck is completely stock except for the engine, he even runs on stock tires. I'm sure if he did alittle other mods than just the engine it would be about .5 or more secs faster.

A good run would be Scott Dunn who bought PSP Sal's Turbo'd Lightning vs. Parish.
I might PM Scott Dunn to see what numbers he has ran. A turbo'd 330 ci Lightning vs Parish's 408 turbo'd Silverado!

Parish is starting to add aftermarket crap, so he won't be on stock suspension, stock wheels and tires, stock everything much longer. He just got a rollpan. =P

a rollpan has got to be worth at least a good 2 tenths of a sec.
i am going to go get one

how about you run2speed
BTW, Here is a 02 with a supercharger, exhause and tune, owning a lightning with a tune, exhaust, pulleys, and some other stuff (forgot exactly what).

Here's the reply on another board from the Chevy truck owner. The Lightning was stock.

I ran a 13.38 to his 13.7- on that run. We ran all night long. Even when leaving the line at the same time, I always pulled him really good on the other side. He has more mods now, and I have added some too since then. I am hoping to keep our views the same (hopefully me in front).:D
Cool, glad to get the complete story. At that e.t. you will handle nearly all stock Lightnings and make for an impressive truck.

Actually, I thought he was supercharged from a previous post by him, but he he was thinkg about one.
And that Lightning wasn't stock. He had another post about it with the lightning saying it had pulleys, exhaust and some other shit.
The guy with the 02 silvy has just boltons, DynoTune, heads and cams.

The guy racing him in the Chevy is the one who said the Lightning was completely stock, and judging by his 13.70 e.t.'s I'd guess he was right. Never seen a pullied, chipped L run 13.70's unless it was at altitude.
The Chevy is bolt-ons, but different heads, cam, exhaust, etc. is about all the bolt-ons you can do without a blower/nitrous. Still, it runs good for a naturally aspirated truck, no doubt. It would have problems against most mildly modded pulley/chip Lightnings though.
Jody
The 02 is only a 5.3 with bolt-ons.
A Lightning has a Supercharger.
Supercharger should beat a 5.3 with bolt-ons...

Every bolt on available beat a 100% stock truck with a blower. That's cool. He spent thousands on mods to be able to do that and he gets credit for it. Typical bolt-ons are air filter, exhaust, chip/tuner. When you start going internally into cam and head swaps you're getting beyond a typical bolt-on. Like I said, his truck runs very well. But spend $500-$600 on the stock Lightning and he'd beat the Chevy by half a second or more. And the Chevy is close to maxed out other than going to a blower or nitrous. The Lightning is just getting started.

xile you are borderline trolling.
lol. Trolling? I used to want a lightning, I've driven lightnings, I know alot of dodge and ford owners on chevy forums...
I got a GM product because I believe that with the money spent on a lightning and mods to make it run like I would want it, would be too much compared to making the same or better results on a GM truck.
