New PB but at a cost

So ran the T&T at Atco yesterday at noon . Weather was perfect 58 to 62* but there was an Import session in the AM. Felt like I was back at E-town again. Almost turned the truck around when it took me 20 minutes to pay at the gate and 30 minutes to tech. Anyway ran my mid range race tune first to check things out since the weather was slightly colder than lest week (77*) Everything looked good in logs and plugs were good. Track was decent but not great so I left at 1400 RPM's.

1.44 60ft and she went 9.88 @ 140 MPH. Then I switched to the tune I left off with last week which was 17* timing and it made 25.5#'s boost to yield me a PB of 9.80 @ 140. but pushed coolant out the degas bottle again. Very frustrating since the logs were perfect, A/F was 11.3 to 11.4, both banks were just about same A/F, Plugs were perfect and oil was clean. So this week I will be doing a Compression and leak down test and checking the coolant for combustion. More than likely yanking the motor to see if it's a gasket again or the block that has some sort of breech.

Really hate to hear that John. Hoping it isn't bad, one thing about ethanol is that it isn't as brutal when detonating as gas. Lifted a head on mine running E85 in 2011 at STS and drove it for 6 months afterward without another problem until I pulled it apart to do the twins.

Yeah I have learned to check a few plugs after every pass. Even though I'm not pulling any on pit road, it's a pretty good indicator back in the pits. In the case of the beautiful green shower my truck got, I checked all 8. Almost wish I could find something that could lead me in the right direction to find the cause. I have run much more aggressive setups than this a hundred times without a HG issue. Frustrating. Yanking the motor will certainly show me the damage but finding the root cause on this one is going to be tough.

Have heard some chatter recently on FB about ARP studs stretching under hard boost - might research that a bit.

Congratulations on the personal best John and sorry to hear of the coolant loss issue.
Hopefully it's nothing serious.
